This Ramón Esteve villa for sale in Na Xamena sits on the cliffs 185 metres above the sea, with panoramic sea views over one of the least spoilt stretches of Ibiza's north coast.
Esteve followed the island's own way of building: white, cubic volumes stepped down the hillside, so that almost every room faces the water. In the evening the sun goes down into the sea.
Interior
Inside, the house is deliberately plain. Polished concrete floors, whitewashed walls and dark wood for the doors and shelving leave the view to do the rest. The beds rest on concrete plinths with floating timber bedside shelves, and a wooden ceiling runs the length of the long, narrow kitchen. Every bedroom has its own bathroom.
The house needs updating – a rare chance to give an original Ramón Esteve design a new life.
Exterior
The living and dining rooms open straight onto terraces on several levels, set around an infinity pool whose edge seems to meet the sea below. Pergolas with canvas shades give cover in the middle of the day, and old timber beams line the edges of the terraces, with sheltered corners for sitting out.
Location
Na Xamena belongs to Sant Miquel, in the municipality of Sant Joan de Labritja, on the north coast. The coastline here is steep and green, with pine trees growing almost down to the rocks. The nearest beach is five minutes away by car; Ibiza Town and the airport are about half an hour.
A house for those who prefer the quieter side of the island.
